Pink & leopard are definitely the new black!!

I am trying to stay positive about this broken fibula, but some days it is tough! I thought I would share with you the negatives and positives about having a broken leg....this way I can remember the good things that happened during this time!!!
Negatives: leg hurts, can't drive, can't walk without the use of crutches or a walker, can't sleep, crawling up and downstairs, not going toTarget for 3 weeks!!!
Positives: prayers from people all over, fancy leopard cover, dinners brought to my house every night....calendar created by Leigh Ann and Karen, riding to work with my sister everyday, riding home with my dad and chatting with him, naps, my friend Jen coming over every morning to help get the kids ready for school, cards, phone calls and emails from tons of friends that I don't speak to often enough, prizes in the mail, playing Scrabble with my kids, flowers, a messy house that is okay, my mom and mother-in-law doing my laundry, my sister-in-law taking my kids to school everyday, my neighbor picking the kids up everyday, coffee drinks brought to me, so many friends taking the kids to different activities, my husband spoiling me (even though I am pretty sure he is sick of getting me ice water, pain pills, ice , etc.), my friends at work helping me up the stairs & getting me ice water, being carried by God through all of this!!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all who have helped me.......what a wonderful blessing to our family!!! When life gives you lemons....make lemonade!!! (wonderful advice from my dear friend Sophie!)
Any broken bones ever at your house???

What a difference a day makes!!

Last Saturday I went down the stairs to get something for my headache......next thing I knew I was sliding down most of the stairs....when I finally stopped....I realized I was in horrible pain & my foot was going the opposite direction of my leg! Not a pretty sight! I yelled for my husband to call 911.....then yelled a few more things.....I need some ice.....get me a drink.....call my sister...call the neighbor...grab the insurance card! Bossy girl even in the midst of a broken leg! Yes......I dislocated my ankle, broke my fibula & tore all of the ligaments in my ankle! I had to have surgery and now have some new hardware in my ankle....I can not put any pressure on my leg for at least 4 weeks...mama is not happy! In fact I am having myself a pity party today!! We were supposed to be going as a family to the Ozarks today! The tears just keep flowing......we were so looking forward to the trip! My awesome friends & family have been taking care of me and have even set up a meal schedule! I am so lucky and I know God will carry me through all of this, but I may need some words of wisdom on how to stay sane with 3 kids, 3 dogs, a husband & a broken leg!!!

REMISSION

My sister Susan took this picture of my dad....she is getting so good at her photography!! I think it is an AWESOME picture and the smile on my dad's face says it all! My dad was diagnosed with Stage IV esophageal cancer 2 years ago....his cancer had also spread to his liver. This has definitely been a roller coaster for the past 2 years.....with radiation, chemotherapy, cyber-knife, spheres, and many Pet scans for my dad. Cancer definitely plays with your emotions, as one day you are feeling pretty good about things & the next day you feel like you can't breath because of so much worry and concern.
Well, I am here to say that my dad is in REMISSION and we are so thankful!!! I believe this is due to many things, all woven together through the hands of God. I believe the doctors, nurses, treatments, my dad's positive attitude and the MANY prayers that were said on my dad's behalf are why we have been given such great news!!! Believe in the power of prayer...it works!!!

Mall of America/Father's Day

Daddy decided we should go to the Mall of America for Father's Day to see a Minnesota Twins game! Perfect I thought...as long as I can do some shopping and go to IKEA! Which by the way I fell in love with that store!!! So much fun and so much to see!!! We decided to take the Light Rail...which took us right to the Metro Dome...it was a fun ride for all of us and no parking fiasco!!Here we all are waiting for the train to pick us up and take us to our destination!!The train was lots of fun for all of us, but super crowded! We were only able to sit down on the way back...everyone was going to the big Twins Game!!!

Arriving at the Big Game!!! It was so cool in the dome...unlike my poor sister who went to the KC Royals games in 115 degree weather!!!

Lots of fun snacks at the game!!! Had to try them all!!

After the game, had to make a quick stop back to the Mall of America! My good friend Lauren Conrad (L.C.) was their having a book signing! Had to wait in line for myself and got one for my friend Leigh Ann's birthday! Lauren is so cute in person! I am sure we would be good friend if she lived here!!!

My kids are so lucky to have such a wonderful father and so am I!!! My dad is AWESOME!!! He has been battling esophageal cancer for the past year and a half and has proven to be such a fighter!! I am so proud of him for all that he has done and how he continues to prove all of the doctors wrong in fighting such a horrible disease!! He will win this battle by his tremendous strength and by the grace of God. Thank you to so many who have been praying for him!!

I love you DAD!!!

Jack Takes The Mound

This year was Jack's 1st year to play baseball! His dad decided to coach the team, which Jack thought was so AWESOME!!! Rob soon discovered that every little boys dream is to be the pitcher. Coach Rob decided that he would let the boys try all types of positions & that every little boy on the team would have a turn pitching! So.......at the last game, Jack got to pitch to 2 players and was in heaven...what an awesome coach!!!Nice pitch...Jack!! Go Twins! In position...ready to field!Jack with the best coach ever...daddy!!! Receiving their medals at closing ceremonies!!

Master Bedroom

Another Home Tour from Kelly's Korner Blog! Today is Master Bedrooms...Enjoy & check out more Master Bedrooms over at Kelly's Blog!!

This is our master bedroom...done in creams. raspberry toiles and Latte paint color from Sherwin Williams! We have had the cream, iron bed forever....my friend Veronica had it designed for us & we love it. I really want a king size bed, but just can't let go of this bed...my dream would be to give it to Callie to use for her bed, in our next home where she has her own bedroom...in another 25 years! Ha-Ha The red, iron heart above the bed is from a local designer here in Iowa. Wanted something above the bed with a punch of color & whimsy! Glass, ball lamps are from Target!

I found this armoire a long time ago too...it had a "HOLD" sticker on it when we wanted to buy it, but the sticker had expired...so the salesperson let us buy it! This is where the tv is hidden...love to watch late night tv, but can't find the remote right now & this is driving us crazy!! The rocking chair is done in a raspberry & cream checked slipcover...it is so cozy!!! My friend Jill made the window treatments out of the toile fabric & cream ball fringe! Thanks, Jill!!

Love this bird print and dresser...all from C'est La Vie! Lots of glass mirrored frames of all the people we love!!

This is one of my favorite pillows...also from C'est La Vie...the store that is no more...:(

...And so far we have lived happily ever after...18 years later!!!

Bathrooms Continued!

Okay...this is the master bath...all things toile! I didn't even know about toile, until I started working at one of my friend's store...C'est La Vie! That is where the love affair with toile began. My sister and I used to work at her cute little store...which I am sorry to say is no longer a store! We sure miss all of the great treasures we used to buy at the store! This bathroom is done in a raspberry wallpaper that my cousin sent me...she had left-overs from one of her bathrooms...lucky me!!
I love this tin shelf and this is where I display all of my perfume...these cute pictures are from C'est La Vie too.....very cute...boxers, bras & undies! They are made from a company called Spicher!

These are a few of my favorite products!! Love this shampoo and conditioner...it is Pureology and it is divine! It is available from a hair salon or I have even seen it at Target. It is not cheap, but it is worth the price! I am loving this hairspray made by Grund &it is called Velocity...got this at my hair salon! My cousin sent me this hand cream...Laura Mercier...Creme Brulee...smells so good! I got this great body wash at TJ Maxx....my whole family loves it! It is orange & lime body cleanser...you will love the citrus smell! Finally my favorite perfume right now is Amazing Grace by philosophy! My friend Karen had it on one day and it smelled so good!
Hope you enjoyed the bathroom tours at The Roush House!! Now I am off to get ready for my 25th Class Reunion! I am kind of nervous, but am sure it will be fun!! Thanks for stopping by!!!

Bathrooms Continued!

This is the kid's bathroom! It is so bright and cheery and I just love it! We started with a yellow paint and then added wall dots from Lowes....stole this idea from my friend Janet! I had the striped shower curtain from a long time ago....so I just got wall dots to match all of the colors. Then I added different color ribbons to the rings on the shower curtain...I love ribbon! Next I got this little shelf at Target and put adorable picture of the kids.....this is where they hang there hooded towels that they got from Grandma ( she bought them at Kohls). The kids are probably getting too old for all of this stuff, but I am just not ready to change it!

I got this cute jar and put all of their flossies so they can floss their teeth! I am sure they probably never do...I even made a label for the jar that says..."don't forget to floss!!!" Not sure if it is working though!!

Bathroom Home Tour

Today I will be posting about bathrooms! Kelly over at Kellys Korner Blog is doing a HomeTour every Friday and this Friday is for bathrooms! I will be showing you our half bath on the main floor....the kiddo's bath & our master bathroom! Enjoy!! This is our half bath on the main floor...this proves that even tiny spaces can be stylish! My cousin came one weekend from Georgia and stated that my bathroom needed some help...so she picked out this awesome green paint and we went from there! We decided to accent with lots of black.

I ripped out the old towel holder and found this cute green towel holder...it was a different color and I painted it black!

My cousin from Georgia sent me this awesome oil painting of a bird. She had one in her bathroom and I so wanted it...

While she was here we picked up this great chandelier and she had my husband hang it above the toilet.....love it and such an easy thing to dress up a bathroom! She has given me tons of black, antique trays so I added these for some drama on the green wall!

My cousin also gave me this gorgeous plate and it adds just the right amount of color pop! I love this little bathroom! Thanks cuz for all of your help in this redo!!
